# Connect your business tools

Give Characters access to the services you use, with the permissions you choose.

## Add the tool you need

Open Plugins and find the service or MCP app you want to use. Connect the intended account and complete the service’s normal sign-in. Growthub uses the supported plugin path for your connected providers.

A connected service, a selected tool and permission to perform a particular action are different things. Some services provide reads while others also support creating or updating records.


## Check before the first action

1. Confirm the service name and signed-in account.
2. Open its settings to review per-tool permissions.
3. Ask for a bounded read to confirm the correct workspace, location or folder.
4. For a write, name the exact item, destination and desired state, such as draft or scheduled.
5. Open the saved result or ask for a readback before treating the action as finished.

## Mention tools in a request

Use the existing @ Plugins list to refer to a connected tool in the composer. A mention helps direct the request; it does not grant new permissions. Slack tool selections are also optional preferences.


Good to know: Never paste passwords, access tokens or browser cookies into a conversation. Use the service’s connection or secure settings flow.
