# Naming conventions

Save optional naming, revision and organization preferences for selected Characters, tools and working contexts.

## Choose where it applies

1. Open Profile Settings → Naming Conventions. It starts off.
2. Add a convention and select its Characters, contexts and named tools or connectors.
3. Narrow it to selected Projects when the convention is client-specific.
4. Write the naming and organization preferences, save them and enable the setting when ready.

## Keep revisions together

Use a concrete example so the Character can apply the format to later turns. Include folder structure, paired files, version increments and what should remain unchanged.

A convention guides future relevant work. It does not rename existing files or move folders by itself.


Example request:

For Google Drive work in this campaign, keep the monthly campaign folder. Pair Newsletter_V1.html with Newsletter_V1.pdf. For later revisions use V2, V3 and onward, retaining the earlier versions.


## Keep handoffs useful and concise

For Asana, ask for updates inside the related task. For Slack, use the relevant thread. Define the level of detail appropriate for that client or Character.

Useful progress, an unanswered question and a final handoff can each be appropriate. A concise handoff need not remove the context needed to review the work.


## Try it and adjust

1. Start a small task in the selected context with the selected Character.
2. Request a revision in the same conversation.
3. Inspect the actual saved names, versions and destination links.
4. Edit the preference if needed, or turn it off for future turns.

Good to know: A direct instruction for the current task can override a saved naming preference. Conventions do not change tools, access or approvals.
